What Does Panthenol (Vitamin B5) Do for Your Skin?
By Nicole Phillips, Founder, Dermal Therapist & Nurse
When people think about skincare ingredients, they often focus on the latest trends or powerful active ingredients.
Yet one of my favourite ingredients has been around for years.
Panthenol, also known as Provitamin B5, is one of those ingredients I return to time and time again because it’s gentle, reliable and incredibly supportive of healthy skin.
What is Panthenol?
Panthenol is a form of Vitamin B5 that converts to pantothenic acid once absorbed by the skin.
It’s well known for helping to attract and retain moisture while supporting the skin’s natural repair processes.
In simple terms, it helps your skin feel softer, more comfortable and better hydrated.
Why is it so good for sensitive skin?
One of the reasons I love Panthenol is that it doesn’t try to force dramatic changes in the skin.
Instead, it works alongside your skin by helping to support its natural barrier.
It may help:
- Improve hydration
- Reduce moisture loss
- Support the skin barrier
- Calm dry, uncomfortable skin
- Leave skin feeling softer and smoother
Because of its gentle nature, it’s suitable for almost every skin type, including sensitive skin.
When can Panthenol be helpful?
Panthenol is an ingredient I particularly like when skin is feeling:
- Dry
- Tight
- Sensitive
- Dehydrated
- Uncomfortable
It also works beautifully alongside many other skincare ingredients, making it an easy addition to a simple routine.
Why I chose Panthenol
When I developed Celulah, I wanted every ingredient to serve a purpose.
Panthenol fits that philosophy perfectly.
It isn’t included because it’s fashionable.
It’s included because it consistently helps support healthy, comfortable skin.
Sometimes the best ingredients aren’t the newest ones.
They’re the ones that quietly work in the background, helping your skin function at its best.
My philosophy
Healthy skin doesn’t always need stronger products.
More often, it needs support.
Panthenol is one of those ingredients that reminds me skincare doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective.
When your skin barrier is healthy, your skin is naturally more resilient, comfortable and balanced.
That’s always been my goal when choosing ingredients for Celulah.
