Skincare FAQs

Skincare FAQs for Sensitive Skin

At Celulah Skin, we believe skincare should feel simple, supportive and easy to understand. Below, you’ll find answers to the questions we hear most often about our formulas, sensitive skin, choosing the right products and building a routine that works for you.

About Celulah Skin

Why was Celulah Skin created?

Celulah Skin was created for sensitive, reactive and easily overwhelmed skin.

We wanted to create skincare that could support the skin barrier, improve hydration and help address common concerns without relying on an unnecessarily aggressive routine.

Every product is developed with a barrier-first philosophy, using purposeful ingredients selected for what each formula is designed to achieve — without added fragrance, essential oils or unnecessary botanical extras.

What makes Celulah Skin different?

Celulah Skin is built around a barrier-first approach.

Instead of focusing on aggressive actives or complicated routines, our formulas combine barrier-supportive ingredients such as ceramides, peptides, ectoin, panthenol, niacinamide, beta-glucan, hyaluronic acid and squalane.

Our goal is simple: create effective skincare that helps sensitive skin feel calm, hydrated and supported without overwhelming it.

What does “barrier-first skincare” mean?

Your skin barrier helps keep moisture in and external irritants out.

When it becomes compromised, skin can start to feel tight, dry, reactive, flushed or uncomfortable - and products that once felt fine may suddenly sting or irritate.

A barrier-first routine focuses on gentle cleansing, hydration and barrier-supportive ingredients before adding more intensive actives.

For sensitive skin, sometimes less really is more.

Choosing The Right Products

Which cleanser should I choose?

Choose Soft Skin Cleanser if your skin is:

Dry
Sensitive or reactive
Dehydrated
Easily stripped
Barrier-compromised

It has a creamy, low-lather texture designed to cleanse without leaving skin feeling tight.

Choose Skin Reset Cleanser if your skin is:

Normal
Combination
Oily-sensitive
Congestion-prone
Dehydrated but still producing excess oil

It has a fresh gel texture that develops into a soft creamy lather and removes impurities without that squeaky-clean feeling.

Building Your Routine

Do I need a complicated skincare routine?

No.

For sensitive or reactive skin, we generally recommend starting with a simple routine:

1. Cleanse
Choose Soft Skin Cleanser or Skin Reset Cleanser depending on your skin type.

2. Treat
Use Pink Calm Serum for redness/reactivity or PDRN DNA Repair Serum for gentle anti-ageing support.

3. Moisturise
Follow with Peptide Barrier Cream.

4. Protect
Finish with SPF every morning.

You can always add more later, but your skin does not need a long routine to be well supported.

Barrier Repair Routine
Best for dry, dehydrated, sensitive or reactive skin.

Skin Reset Routine
Best for normal, combination, oily-sensitive or out-of-balance skin.

How should I layer Celulah Skin products?

A simple rule is to apply products from lighter to richer texture:

Cleanser → Serum → Peptide Barrier Cream → SPF in the morning

If using the Restore Mask, apply it after your serum as part of an occasional hydration-focused routine.

Sensitive & Reactive Skin

Is Celulah Skin suitable for sensitive skin?

Celulah Skin is developed with sensitive, reactive and barrier-compromised skin in mind.

However, everyone’s skin is different, and even carefully formulated skincare may not suit every individual. If your skin is highly reactive, introduce new products one at a time so you can see how your skin responds.

Can I use Celulah Skin if I have eczema or rosacea-prone skin?

Celulah Skin products are designed to support sensitive and reactive skin, but they are cosmetic skincare products, not treatments for medical skin conditions.

If you have diagnosed eczema, rosacea, psoriasis or another skin condition, it is best to check with your dermatologist or healthcare professional before introducing new products.

Can I use Celulah Skin alongside retinoids or exfoliating acids?

Our barrier-supportive products can be incorporated into routines that contain other actives.

However, if your skin is currently feeling red, tight, stinging or irritated, it may be helpful to simplify your routine and reduce potentially irritating actives while your skin settles.

If you are using prescription treatments, follow the advice of your prescribing practitioner.

Does niacinamide irritate sensitive skin?

Niacinamide can be well tolerated by sensitive skin, but concentration, formulation and the condition of your skin barrier all matter.

Some people may still find niacinamide irritating, particularly when using higher-strength formulas or when the skin barrier is already compromised.

That is why Celulah Skin uses niacinamide as part of balanced formulas alongside hydrating and barrier-supportive ingredients rather than relying on it as a standalone high-strength active.

Product Formulation

Are Celulah Skin products fragrance-free?

Yes.

Our formulas are made without added fragrance or essential oils.

We also avoid botanical extracts across the range to keep our formulas focused and reduce unnecessary ingredients for sensitive skin.

What ingredients does Celulah Skin leave out?

Our current formulas are made without:

Fragrance

Essential oils

Botanical extracts

SLS/SLES

Parabens

Added dyes

Mineral oil or petrolatum

We believe sensitive skincare should focus just as much on what is left out as what is included.

Are Celulah Skin products pH-balanced?

Our cleansers and skincare formulas are developed with skin-friendly pH levels in mind.

The skin naturally has a slightly acidic surface environment, so maintaining an appropriate formulation pH is one of the considerations we take into account when developing products for sensitive and easily compromised skin.
